Monitoring Ten Major Asset Categories
We believe that these ten exchange traded products can give a fairly wide angle, macro view of world market conditions:
- VTI - US Stocks
- EFA - Non-US Developed Market Stocks
- EEM - Emerging Market Stocks
- DJP - Global Commodities
- VNQ - US Equity REITs
- AGG - US Bonds, excluding Municipals
- IEF - US Treasuries (7-10 Yr)
- UUP - US Dollar Index
- USO - Crude Oil
- GLD - Gold Bullion.
If you pay close attention to them, you will probably be pretty well “plugged-in” to the big picture.
Here are some charts and tables as of November 17, 2008 that shed some light on those ten asset categories in terms of price levels.
